EDGE or GPRS?

How do you know if you are connecting on the new EDGE network or the old GPRS network? Also, is there any way to find out what speed the internet is moving at? Thanks.

Treo 650 with Blackberry Software

Just got off the phone with tech at Cingular with him stating that a Treo 650 with RIM software is already in use in Europe. I guess they have all bugs worked out besides the legal issues that RIM is currently going through in the US for there software. I guess PalmOne doesn't want to deploy it just incase RIM loses there legal battle and then they would have to pay royalty fees. Came across this topic because I was ordering a blackberry and stated that I really wanted a 650 when the guy told me the information. Hopefully its true in a way.

Saving To Expansion Card

I bought me one of these today and love it so far!

However, I am having trouble writing to my phone or the SD card. I am getting an unknown error. During sync, it does not even appear to try to write to either the phone or card (MP3, pictures, anything). It syncs contacts, calendar and notes perfectly. It is just the transfer of files that is not occurring. I have formatted the card (since it previously was used with my MPX200), and that still does not help. Does anyone have any idea how to correct this?

NO ID on incoming calls from anyone

Hi everyone, I have a problem with all my incoming phone calls that come in are being displayed as NO ID. Eventhough they are in my phone list. Even my wifes phone that has not enabled call blocking. With my old phone I would receive Incoming ID, but not with this one. I even tried a hard reset and installed my wifes phone number in the address book, to no avail. Thanks for those who replied.

🙄 Has anyone had this problem that when receiving phone calls on their Treo 650 and the contact is in your contact list, the screen says "NO ID" ?
Would greatly appreciate it if someone had a fix for this.
Thanks.

treo or bb 7100g

All,

I have both a Treo 600 and a 650.

My IT dept. will support out of the office Outlook connectivity to the 600 but not 650 and has no plans to support it.

Obviously, the 650 is beautiful and much improved over the 600 but I really need connectivity.

I have a total of options. Please let me know which you would do.

1) return my beautiful 650, keep the 600 and resign myself to the lesser features, etc.

2) keep the 650 and access my corporate email, contacts and calendar through a secure web page login. The 650 supports this but the navigation of the site is really tough and the download times are pretty slow... not horrible but slow.

3) get myself a BlackBerry 7100G that My IT dept. will also support but of course it ...

7100g vs. Treo 650

OK...so I love the 7100 looks and small size. What I don't love is the lack of 3rd party apps that could make it a fully functional PDA.

I love the power of the 650 but I am not a big fan of the size, looks, or price.

Anybody want to comment? If I just want to do some email is it worth it to do the 650? Anybody hate/love either one??

Thanks!

First impressions with the T-650.

Hello all. This is my second post. I've been lurking around here for the past month while waiting for Cingular to make the T-650 availble to us. Now I have one and can see what all the fuss is about. It's great! The T-650 is my first cell/PDA convergence device. I'm retired and bought this primarily to have a cell/camera phone with a great calender along with mobile web and AOL e-mail access. Here is my 1 week impressions of the Treo 650:

1) I just love the large and bright screen. Having come from an Audiovox 8900 with a much smaller and dimmer screen, this is really nice. I have the power "auto off" set for 3 minutes and shut it off manualy when I'm through. This gives me the best of both worlds. If I get distracted for...

EDGE web browsing vs 1X web browsing?

I have the Treo 600 on Sprint.

Trying to decide whether to get a 650 or go another route.

Is it true that the GPRS web surfing experience on a Treo is different?

Seems like I heard that the data was always-on and therefore you didn't have that 5-8 seconds of logging into the data network the way you do on Sprint.

1. Is that true?

2. What is EDGE web browsing speed like vs 1XRTT speed, in the real world?

Just how fast is it?

Hey all,
I have a question...two actually. One, just how fast is this phone with EDGE? Compared to a computer with internet access, it is as fast as dial up or faster? Is it as fast as a cable modem or a lot slower?
Finally, I realy really really want this phone...the features it has would be a great help in my profession...what is the most inexpensive you guys have seen the phone? I am currently a Cingular customer and am eligible for upgrade if that helps. Thanks a lot, and be blessed!
