wireless sync question
Do you need a data plan to use the wireless sync for email feature on the 9800? Does it use evdo and/or does it just use minutes from your voice plan (like mobile web)?
Thanx in advance!

Played with one today: screen size, keypad size...
My local VZW shop has a dummy in so I played with it for a while, comparing it to my own phone (T730) and Moto E815 and LG 8100.
1- The phone is nice and small. It is as long as my Moto T730 or E815, including the antenna stub. Yea, that compact! It beats the PDA's in bulk and offers similar features. It is about an inch think, but that doesn't bother me. My current phone with an extended battery is about that thick anyway.
2- It looks very good for a "candy bar" style. I am not a fan of non-clamshell phones, but this one looks good and it is a clamshell after all, as it does open up.
3- The keypad is very well spaced, people who complain about it being small must have very large hands. One thing people may not realize is that...

Texting Options
Does anyone know if text messages can be sent the old way from this phone? Obviously, sometimes it won't be convenient to open the phone and use the qwerty keypad to send text messages.
Think of all the times you can only hold your phone with one hand.
Sorry if this topic has already been addressed. 😁
Blue tooth accessories
Will this phone support a BT keyboard? and other similar BT accessories?
It sure would be great to be able to do heavy email work with a keyboard when on the road.
I don't know much about BT, how it works, and why VZ typically cripples it on their phones...so any info would be helpful.
Does Anyone Know...
How the speakerphone holds up against the 710? If it supports mp3 ringtones?
How much $ it will be?
Thanks, I cant wait for this one!

VX-9800 Impressions
Had an opportunity to check out a live working demo of the new LG VX-9800 today, and came away very impressed with what I saw. While not for everyone, I have a feeling this phone is going to do very well.
First and foremost, the VX-9800 is admittedly larger than most other models out there, but surprisingly, once you actually get it in your hands, it’s not as big as you might think. The reason for it’s larger size of course is the hidden QWERTY keyboard hidden underneath the folding hinge. This will be the focal point for those who use text messaging as a primary means of communication, and one in which this phone really shines.
While the keyboard is admittedly going to be the VX-9800’s biggest selling point, for me, the phone’s ...

PC support?
Does the 9800 come with software (or can you buy) to sync up to a PC to transfer phone books, contact lists, etc.?

Confusing Specs: 9800 vs. 815 and 8100
Looking at these 3 phones online, and seeing them side by side in the shop, somehow some of the specs don't make sense. The inside screen on the 9800 is visually the same size as the 815 and just slightly larger than the 8100. But in the specs it appears as being much larger. Also the 9800 actual thickness is less than 815 in specs, how's that possible?
Screen Sizes:
9800: 320 x 256 pixels (262,144)
815: 176 x 220 pixels (262,144)
8100: 176 x 220 pixels (262,144)
Phone Size:
9800: 4.57" x 1.97" x 1.00"
815: 3.71" x 1.95" x 1.01"
8100: 3.58" x 1.92" x 1.03"

Dial-Up Network Profile Included - Suspiciously So...
Since all the hoopla surrounding the ability to use the BlueTooth DUN profile on the Motorola E815 by simply enabling the feature has come about, I wonder if Verizon has gotten any wiser about tracking "illegal" usage by some means with this phone. I have to tell you it is VERY nice to jump on the high speed network and check email and browse websites using the E815 as a BT modem.
The info on the VX9800 shows that it includes BT DUN profile. It makes me suspicious, however, that you can get on the network - as easily and as cheaply as the E815 - using this phone. It may be a case of caveat emptor...
