Held one yesterday...
I held one at my nearby VZW store last night. It is small approx. the size of the Motorola PTT candybar style phone. The keys on the inside keypad are very close together. From the outside it looks just like a typical 'candy bar' style phone. There also is no external antena. Personally, I'm happy with my LG 8100. The 9800 was nice but, I am just not into 'candybar' style phones. It is definately smaller than the Sidekick, so that's a definate plus for VZW to possible get some T-Mobile customers.

October 2nd is the Date!
Yep, went to the Verizon store tonight and took a look-see and he said that October second is when they hit the shelves..... Take that for what its worth because verizon reps dont know what they r talking about half the time. Overall, the phone came out to be somewhat a dissapointment because the inner screen was about 3"x3" WAYYYYY too small for my liking. Also, the buttuns were VERY small naking it hard for guys and girls with their nails done. The price is going to be 349.99 with a 50 mail in rebate...... he also said that by Thanksgiving, expect a major price drop,
probably $199 after rebate. I really dont know if imma get this phone or a free 8100 with my new every two.... 😕

Why 9800 not on LG web site?
Why do you think LG doesn't have the 9800 on their us.lge.com web site? The phone is all over the 'net, except on their site? Makes no sense... S

This - or the SK III?
Hey all,
Here's the story - currently my family has service with VZW and T-Mobile. Without question - VZW has the better, more solid, network.
I'm looking for a "fun phone" to do a decent amount of messaging, net browsing, e-mail, and fun stuff - oh yeah, also want a good phone.
This puppy seems to fit the bill, and that's the other factor, THE BILL!!! That seems to really favor T-MO!
Bottom line, I don't need to be first with the new toys. Since my NE2's not up till after the first of the year, I probably can't do anything right now anyway. Just though this would be some good discussion.
I've been told that the SKIII will be out by Christmas - not sure of what it will have.
THANKS GUYS!
David

If this phone can handle FULL WEB PAGES then its a dream come true...I was thinking of getting an i730 for the internet but if this thing can handle it than its a wrap! With the EVDO service vzw would be STUPID not to have it with full HTML...Damn too bad im only a part time rsr..I cant access infomanager until friday 😢

VX9800 with no Antenna, how bad the reception?
I am reading a lot of posts about other LG phones, that claim poor reception and lesser signal strength vs. Motorola.
Most LG phones have at lease some kind of a stub, the 9800 has probably only a built in antenna at best. How bad do you think the reception would be?
Any comments. Thanks, S

Same old menus
I HATE that verizon is standardizing their menu systems...with a phone like this, the menus and graphics (wallpaper, screensaver, etc.) could be really neat..3D perhaps..i don't know. But this phone has the exact SAME menu as the lg vx7000. I wish verizon didn't go with this stupid "user friendly" menu...the red and gray bars are STILL on the main screen and you can't change the color. ugh

AOL and Wireless Sync
You say if you have AOL etc, you don't need wireless sync, because you can access though mobil web 2.0. However, in order to access AOL, you must log in everytime AND the browser does not keep your password.
Is there away with this GET IT NOW wirless sync to have AOL send your mail directly to your phone from their server? And if the answer is yes, can you do it WITHOUT your computer left on because it's coming from the AOL server?
Basically, I want my AOL mail pushed to me and don't want to have to leave my computer on...
Anyone know?
Thank you.

Question about Ringtones
So was curious, will they let you use the ringtones you get from friends or from walmart.com as ringtones or are they blocking this.
Cause i know on the 8100 u cant do it, but on the E815 and my lg6100 I can use them.
So was wondering if anyone knows yet.
Thanks
