BlackBerry Pearl 8100

Hi all,
I'm waiting on my new Pearl and in the meantime trying to find out if I actually need a "blackberry" plan to access data properly. I'll be using it with Rogers and I'm not worried about email but the Rogers guy says I need a blackberry voice/data plan to use data. I really do not want to change my plan.

Does anyone know if data will work with a regular mobile internet plan?? Please HELP

Does anyone know if the voice dialing software is by Blackberry or Sound Design? I know Moto, Sammy and most Nokia use the 3rd party Sound Design and from my experience with VZW phones, it Sucks. I'd love the iPhone, but not at that price. Thanx in advance.

I have the pearl with T-Mo and I know it should work in the UK and Ireland where I am going next month, but I was wondering if I could get feedback from anyone who has actually used it in Europe, specifically the UK. I am most interested in knowing how the maps/internet will work.

theres no famous blackberry Clip included with the pearl?! aawww, i love the blackberry clips. is there a way to buy one that will fit the pearl? i only see leather cases and all that.

I've seen on the Blackberry site, that the new 8800 series (currently the Indigo on Cingular) has background noise cancellation built in. I'm guessing when T-Mobile's version comes out, it will have the same.

So what about the Pearl? Is the same technology on it?

Just wondering, for when I was testing the Dash & Pearl, I noticed even though the Dash had fantastic clarity, I could hear some background noise...and maybe even a little "hissing"...where I did not hear this as much on the Pearl.

Your input? Let me know.

Just bought the Red Pearl for Cingular, and the first day I had it, it was playing music files fine through the media player, I was also able to view my pictures. Now everytime I try to open either a song or a picture a message comes up saying

Here are some examples:

unable to display file/media card/blackberry/music/filename

unable to display file/Device Memory/home/user/pictures/filename

Whats going on??
Any suggestion? Anyone?

I have my phone set to Central Time Zone (-6) being in KY and under the date & time settings, it shows at the bottom my network time and date as being correct. However, when I "update the time" on the menu, it shows that my time is one hour behind the network time. Why is that???!?!?!? I have to manually set it to match the network time! So two questions basically:

1. Am I going to have to change the phone manually when I enter new time zones? Or will the phone do this on it's own?

2. Date/Time Source options are Network, BlackBerry, and Off. I have it on Network, but it still sets itself an hour behind the actual network time shown. Do I need to put this on another setting???

Does anyone know if you can change the color that the trackball lights up during normal use, not just when its ringin?

Considering the switch to TMo and as a med student am pretty torn by these two options. Any clues/tips by anyone who has worked with either are greatly appreciated...Any1 hear about the 8800 going to Tmobile??

I am considering the pearl, MDA, or the dash. I am torn because I am looking for a good phone for AIM. How does the pearl stack up?

how is the Mp3 Player? when you get a call or text does it freeze or glitch up, or does it close or pause? do there seem to be problems when using the mp3 player in the background?

Is the speakerphone on the Pearl full duplex? I tried the 8800 and surprisingly its speakerphone was only half duplex!

why does the trackball look so dirty and how can you clean it???☹️

There really is no ringer ID, is there? This website says that there is, but I can't find it in my phone. 😕

im a college student, and a biochemistry major. i used to use a treo which was great, but its too much of a hassle with the size and the touchscreen is annoying. i've decided im going to get the pearl. im pretty busy with baseball and football workouts, so i was wondering if someone could help answer a few qwestions since i cant really make it to a cingular store.

1. I know the keys are small, and i have decent sized fingures. i felt like the treo buttons were a great size, and i could even deal with buttons smaller than that. are the keys ok on teh pearl?

2. The trackball, does it actually roll around in the device, or do you just have to touch it and the cursor moves?

3. is there a way to change the entry method to Multitap...

Hi all! I was just given a pearl by my company and I want to move my pics and music over from my sync but i'm having trouble using the bluetooth. Does this phone even do file sharing? Am I just missing something? Thanks in advance! 😁

I was wondering if there was a program out there that could be DL'd to the Pearl so that I could play regular .mpg video files ?

Can anyone please offer some update...Is there a way to access the voice dialing feature without having to roll onto the icon on the desktop....I had a Q that had a key that allowed you to simply press it and voice dialing would work....PLease respond.
