Samsung SCH-A670

My husband and I each have the Samsung A670 phone with Verizon, and are actually very happy with them.

My husband had dropped his phone and we noticed the external screen now displays sporadically, but we live with it. Then, the internal screen started having a “life of its own”. Sometimes, the wallpaper and words would be flipped around (like you were viewing it in a mirror), or the screen display is split in “quarters” and one or two of the quarters would be blacked out, or other times it was just fine.

Hi,

My phone works when I turn it on. But after a few minutes, the display gets distorted, whenever I go to the menu. Sometimes, the front display also doesn't work.

Is this a hardware problem? I had the phone for a year now.

I just bought this phone and changed the text message ringer to just vibrate. And I noticed that it occasionally just vibrates, other times it vibrates and beeps and still other times it just beeps......

Is this a problem with my phone, or is anyone else seeing this happen as well?

The light on my external screen on my a670 comes on every 5 mins for about 1 to 2 seconds then shuts off which is really diminishing my battery life. Any body have any idea why and how i can fix it.

I just bought a Jabra bluetoth kit with a Motorolla headset and i can't figure out how to get the phone to answer by pressing the headset button or at least one of the buttons on the outside of the phone, is this even possibe? I really don't want to flip the phone open everytime I want to answer a call, I tried auto answer but that didn't work either, can anybody help?

after receiving an incoming call from someone i had no desire whatsoever to talk to, i wanted to block the number. looking through the manual and messing around with the phone for a while, i was unsuccessful as to figuring out how. next, i tried to make that particular contact have a silent ringer as its ringtone. as luck would have it, i was unsuccessful yet again, and was only given the choices of an inactive, and the preloaded tones already on my phone. i would like to have some suggestions as to solve my problem (i dont really want to change my number...)

Is there any way to send ems messgages on this phone, with my lg7000 I could send little pictures within texts.

I have recieved a few pictures through text messaging on my phone. For all of them I clicked "Save Picture" and I guess it was saved to the My Image folder. Now it says the My Image folder is full....I have like 10 images in it? They aren't high quality or anything, only 2-3k each. I don't have much else on my phone.

Is there anyway to move these Images to the picture gallery, or anyway to fit more?

The only solution I see is to save the message with the image in it, then to save/delete the images in and out of the "My Image" folder depending on what I wish my background to be set as.

hi i was curious how u set the text message ring tones for vibrate or just change it in general because even though my phone was in vibrate, incoming text messages sare still a loud bell/alert... which is really annoying. If anyone knows how to change it, it would be most appreciated. Thanks again.

I recently had this problem after downloading some new ringtones. My batter will go dead overnight on standby, as well as overheat on standby. Verizon first gave me a new battery, but the problem persisted. Before returning my phone for exchange, I sent all ringtones and wallpapers to my second phone (family plan). Now the problem exists on both phones. Can there be a phone virus at work? Must I delete all ringtones and wallpapers?
One other side note... The Verizon Logo and time/date info sometimes blink back and forth at a very accelerated rate. It is during these times my battery seems to drain and the phone overheats. Not the battery side, but the key pad.

Ive had my phone for maybe a year or so and its been great. The other day i downloaded a wav for my phone but ever since then its been dying rapidly. It feels somewhat warmer then normal. I figured it was the battery so i went out and bought the extended battery but its still dying really fast. About 6 hours tops. 4 hours on the smaller battery. I dont know why this is happening. Is there a way to reset the phone or upgrade the firmware or soemthing that could potentially fix this issue?

I used QPST to save pictures from my phone to my laptop. Then I deleted them.

Now my phone is dead!!!! It just cycles the Verizon loading screen and reboots. I tried taking the battery out for a bit. Still does it. Also I plugged in the charger to make sure it wasn't low on battery. It's DEAD!!!! 😲

So many people say that the outer lcd on the a670 cant be lit unless you open the phone. WRONG. Get your facts straight before you say this stuff. All you have to do is hold the volume rocker down for 2 or 3 seconds and the outer LCD will light up.

i've come to realize that verizon doesn't offer that many great phones.. this phone is great, but so old, and samsumg hasn't come out with anything to upgrade this (unless its a vcast)...i'm wondering if i should buy this one... i don't like motorola phones cause they seem too weak and they look ugly, lol. however, this doesn't have tri-mode which comes in handy.. i'm either getting this phone or the Moto v276...help me out, thanks!

Okay, this is really weird, maybe someone here can help me.
I have only dropped my phone once, about 6 and a half months ago, and it was in a leather case, and worked perfect. Up until about a week ago. Actually, it still works fine, it just does funny things. (And my dog hears the sounds it makes, so I know I'm not imagining them.)
I was getting ready for work, and I hear 3 very very low, barely audible tones, doo-doo-doooh, repeated 3 times. And, (I only noticed this because I was looking almost at it, trying to listen for what was making the sound) my phone's LED service light started flashing *green*. Hi, I was sent a picture message by a friend and I wanted to save the picture to my photo gallery but I don't see the picture after I save it from the message. I have the message saved in my "saved" messages box and I chose the option to save picture but I have no idea where that picture went after I saved it. It's not in my photo gallery. Any ideas?

For some reason I haven't been able to capitalize anymore. The only option I get when I text message or input a contact name is lower case even if I go to options and select ABC. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Note: I have been able to capitalize before but all of a sudden now I can't.

Ok, I've read so many threads about how to get ringtones onto the samsung A670. Many were old threads and I'm not sure the methods they described still work, b/c I've tried everything. I've tried uploading MIDI files onto vzwpix.com and funformobile.com and I've tried emailing myself the files. Nothing works! I always get the stupid CORRUPTED sign when I try to open my pix message. Does anyone know how to get free ringtones onto my phone??? Thanks so much for your help!

Discovered a simple way to get my own music as a ringtone using Windows' Sound Recorder application:

1) Connect a music source to microphone input or line-in on your pc. An ipod or mp3 player works great. You'll probably need a 3.5mm-3.5mm cable from your headphone output to PC input. (Note - be sure to choose the correct source input for your PC, see 2f below)

2) Open Sound Recorder and prep it for recording as follows:
a)Select File/Properties then 'Convert Now' button
b)In 'Sound Selection' window, choose:
Format: PCM
Attributes: 22050kHz,16 Bit,Stereo 86kb/sec
c)Click 'Save As' to save this setting for later use, you can name it anything you want
d)Click 'OK' and 'OK' again to close
e)Select Edit/Audio Pr...
