Volume bug problems

I spoke with a VZ tech rep. on the phone today and he assured me that this problem has been fixed. Just wondering this is true?

Random green blinking light when flap closed?

What does this mean? My phone will be on, but not in use, just closed sitting on my desk and I'll notice that the outside green light on the right side will just start randomly blinking. I know it doesn't mean a voicemail or text message indication because whenever the green light flashes I check the phone and there isn't a message.

The green light is the same green light that will light up when your battery is fully charged, or red if it isn't.

Thanks.

Charger Jack?

I just purchased 2 of these phones for my family. They LOVE the phone. My concern is the charger and jack this phone has. Quite a few years back I had another brand with this same type of jack. After a period of time the plastic jack cover got worn out and lost. After more time because such a large area was exposed, the inside terminals got broken and you could no longer charge the phone.

I called LG and asked if they planned on releasing a desktop battery only charger and they said probably not although a regular desktop charger should become available.

Have any long time users of this type of phone jack had any problems?

Conversation with LG Tech Support

I've been having the audio and RF bug issues since day one and had decided to live with it pending a software update, but I had to return the phone tonight.

I was in lower Manhattan today and was actually getting a signal and able to make calls in a couple of subway stations, but understandably lost service when I went to lower levels. When I came out to the street, the phone would go from no service and then stay at analog. It would never go back to digital and I was unable to make calls in analog mode. I had to reboot the phone to get it to work again every time I came out of the subway.

I called LG tonight and went over the whole list of issues and explained what had happened today. The tech I got was very nice and seemed to know ...

How To Keep Screen Lit?

I set the backlight timer to 30 sec. If I don't touch any keys, the inside screen stays brightly lit for 30 seconds, then dims and after another 1:30 goes off completely. I changed the backlight setting to "Always On." Now the screen stays brightly lit for 2:00 then goes blank.

When I have the flip open, I want to see the screen stay lit, even if I don't touch any keys. Is there any way to prevent the screen from going blank?

Blue Insert in Earpiece

I browsed thru this forum before getting the 6100 recently and saw a suggestion by someone with the username Frosty??? who suggested removing the blue plastic insert that covers most of the earpiece opening. Was that a serious suggestion or was he kidding? What is the function of the blue plastic? Does it act like the vibrating part of a stereo speaker or is it just a protective cover to be removed during installation?

6100 availablity, bugs, & banner removal

I just got my 6100 on Tuesday. It did take four days to get the phone at my local Verizon store due to the shortage of phones. I asked about the availability of the phone and the manager did admit that they are running out of the phones here and there around the country. This store was upgrading users to the 7000 for the same price if you were ok with digital only service.

My phone is running the PRL 50233 and ERI ver 3. I have not had any issues with the volume levels to this point. The signal fluctuation does happen though, but not to the point of dropping calls. I have not been out to any fringe areas with the phone yet however. I did talk to the tech at the Verizon store about the issue and he said that Verizon and LG were aware o...

End call with flip closed?

I don't know if this has been covered already, but is there anyway to end a call when using the headset and the flip is closed?

Signal strength

I recently upgraded my LG VX10 to a VX6100.

I travel through the Washington/Dulles airport frequently, and am on my phone during my walk through the main terminal.

My VX10 never dropped a call there. My VX6100 does drop calls.

Is this really a VX6100 problem, or the difference between a extended antenna (VX10) and stub antenna (VX6100)?

Do phones with stub antennas inherently have lower signal strength due to that design?

Is this just a design tradeoff made 'acceptable' by evaluating the better tower coverage of "today" (in general) vs. the consumer hassle of fooling with an extendable antenna?

DOES ANYONE KNOW

Wondering if anyone knows how to set the outside slide key, to close the message "sound" when receiving a text or voice message. I used to be able to (on my 4500) push the slide key, and the notification would stop. Now, on the 6100 (which I love), I have to open the flip, to get the notifier to stop. Thanks for the help, and thanks that the forum exists.

Inconsistent behavior

This phone has me totally perplexed. I think my experiences reflect many of the opinions in the Review section of this (terrifically helpful) website. When the 6100 is good, it's very very good. When it's bad, it's very bad. The features and friendliness are awesome. But from one day to the next, it is unpredictable (when used in the same cellular areas). Two days ago, no one could hear me when I made a call. Yesterday, no problems. The speakerphone is never as clear as my previous phone, a LG 2000 - but some days, the sound quality is just awful, and other times, plenty good enough. Reception has never been as reliable as my wife's (she won't give it up) StarTac, but in both Buffalo and Chicago, it has been mostly reliable. I traded...

Can't Transfer phone book from Motorola to VX6100

Hi- I just purchased the LG VX 6100 and spent over 2 hours at Verizon for them to transfer my phone book from my Motorola V60 to the new VX 6100. I have over 200 contacts and they were not able to. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there another way to transfer or at least input the phone numbers into my laptop and then transfer them to my new cell phone? This has been very frustrating.

What Makes People Think There Is Going to be a Firmware Update?

The way I see it phone models come and go so fast now that manufacturers have very little motivation to spend time and resources for firmware updates for phones already out there. They'll just fix the software for the next release of a newer phone model. Opinions?

ANOTHER bug in the 6100 (CHARGING PROBLEM)

I know this was discussed earlier but I'm starting a fresh thread to hopefully flush out others who may not be aware of yet another problem with this phone.

You will eventually come to find that once the LOW BATTERY BEEP is heard, plugging the phone into either charger (cigarette OR wall), will not stop the phone from shutting down in approx. 1 to 2 minutes, even though it is indicating that it is charging. To make things worse, immediately after plugging into a charger, the call quality will deteriorate to the point that the phone will be rendered nearly useless.

LG and Verizon both claim that they have had no complaints about this but I have read here about several others having this problem. I have two 6100s and both of them have th...

OTA Capable/Analog Questions

Picked up a 6100 yesterday through NE2. I had hoped to wait for the promised firmware fix, but my V60 broke in two, so that was that. It really seems to be a nice phone. Audio is loud and clear, but I do have the audio bug. Seems to hold 5 bars at home, where the Motorola was 3-4. I'll take it for a ride to my usual haunts to see how it does this weekend.

Having to pay $50 and then get it back in a rebate seemed to be a pain, but it has one big advantage. I charged the $50 on my Amex, so I now have an additional year warranty through them, so I'm covered through the contract.

Couple of questions:
- It has a sticker saying "OTA Capable" next to the Qualcomm 3Q sticker. Could this mean that firmware can be pushed out (there is some tal...
