Why so inexpensive??

Why is Verizon selling this phone so cheap? You can pick one up for $99 as well as their buy one get three free deal. On the other hand, the Samsung 670 is selling for $129 and it's be on the market for almost a year (versus the 6100 which has only been out a couple/few months.)

I've been around long enough to know that when a carrier starts giving away phone or selling at a steep discount it usually means the phone is on it's way out or has a problem. However, this seems pretty quick for this model. Is it really problem plagued, or have we just reached a point that phones become obsolete?

Forcing All Digital Service: A Cure for the Analog Blues

If you have been having issues with the phone switching to analog when you prefer it wouldn't try this procedure to make the phone all-digital rather than digital and analog.

Press [MENU] + [0]

Then Security Code: [0][0][0][0][0][0]

You are now in the "Field Test/Service Menu" where you can force the Preferred Mode... Just select "Force Mode" press [OK] select "CDMA" and press [OK] then [End}

If you don't like it you can always switch it back to the original default setting "Automatic" using this same procedure.

You can always adjust this setting prior to going into fringe or analog areas.

Man, VX 6100 Verizon price drops to half what I paid recently...

I do like the 6100, yes I've got the volume bug (quiet for first 3 seconds of connection), but overall the reception has been good and I needed an analog capable tri-mode phone, BUT, ain't it always a kick in the shins when a price drop makes you feel like you paid too much...

HALF price, from $99.99 after on-line purchase discount and re-up of 2 year contract (my plan is $5 a month short for "new every two" even with 2 phones on Family Share, only one counts and only the lead phone's billing counts), NOW they are $49.99, HALF what I paid a couple of weeks ago, and I bought TWO of them, NOW the deal includes FREE extra phones after your first one for $49.99!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like they are kind of blowing out the 6100's or trying to impro...

How do you set the phone to JUST vibrate

the phone seems to have a vib & high setting, but not just vibrate. Is there a way to have it just vibrate for an incoming call or does the phone not have this feature?

LG VX6100 vs Moto v265

Posted this on the Moto v265 site, but thought it might be useful here as well
------

I had the LG VX6100 for about 15 days, and decided to trade it in for the Moto V265. Luckily Verizon let me extend my trial period since I was having issues with the VX6100. After using my V265 for about 10 days or so I think I will be staying with it. Below is what I found good and bad about both of them:

LG VX 6100
----------
Good:

- Great screen, color and clarity
- Very easy to use - barely cracked the manual
- Driving mode very useful for hands free calling and answering
- Speaker phone pretty good
- Calendar very easy to use
- Pretty nice camera for a phone
- Seemed to be pretty solid
- I believe when using a headset and you clos...

Pictures to Computer?

If I buy a data cable to connect my phone to the computer: A) Can I download photos to/from my computer at no charge? B) Can I download ringtones, i.e. MP3's, from my computer? C) If I can do these things, do I need the software that comes w/ some cables, or can I purchase the ones w/o the software?? Thanks!

LG VX 6100 vs LG vx 8000

I see the 8000 will be out soon. Has anyone had any experience with this phone and can compare it to the 6100. I understand it will cost between $ 300-400 when its released in January.

silence the ring

I wanted to know if there is a button on the side of the phone that will silence the ring when the phone is closed. I am not looking to send the caller directly into voice mail, but rather to silence the ring after reading the caller ID readout. Thanks in advance for any help.

Prolong Battery Life????

does anyone know if putting the phone on a certain force mode could prolong the battery life? i would think it might since it wouldn't be changing back and forth.

VX6100 vs. Moto v265

I was wondering, which phone is better, the VX6100 or the new Moto v265. Any input on any of the features is helpful, such as the display, speakerphone, reception, ease of use, etc. Again, any help is great.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Calendar Sync???

I noticed that DataPilot has come out with a new software package for the 6100 that DOES NOT include calendar sync, which is available for the 6000.

Does anybody know if the 6100 will be able to calendar sync with the Verizon office kit or some other software?

No calendar sync is a deal breaker for me>

Force Mode Question

Does anyone know if keeping it forced on one type of signal could prolong the battery life? I would think that keeping it from switching would use less battery but i do not know. If anyone knows anything please let me know.

Great phone!!

I just purchased this phone last week and I really enjoy it. As far as the 'volume bugs' that was only in the first batch of phones. That was the first question I asked the Verizon Rep about and he said that particular store had the new batch w/o 'the bug'. I love the speaker phone b/c ppl can hear me clearly w/o me yelling into the phone. I can clearly hear the phone ring no matter where I am. I miss a lot of the wallpapers that the 6000 had but I can always download new ones. As far as the keypad getting hot, that happens with every cell phone lately. I've had plenty of cell phones, all different brands within the past year and all of them have had that issue. Overall this phone has been pretty good to me so far.

Headset use - speakerphone always activates

I've been trying to use my 6100 with a headset. In driving mode, when receiving a call, the speakerphone activates and you hear the call announced thought that rather than through the headset. I'd think that the phone should know that if the headset is plugged in, to route all sounds through the headset - "incoming call from --- do you want to answer" is worthless coming through the speakerphone when the headset is plugged in. I can understand it if the headset wasn't plugged in but the phone doesn't seem to know the difference. As it stands, anytime the phone rings and the headset is plugged in, driving mode or not, I have to get out the phone and open it to answer the call.

Am I doing something wrong or expecting too much?
