Samsung SCH-A970

Is it true that the camera on this phone doesn't focus when you use the zoom feature? I've heard this from a number of people, however since it's not out in my area yet, I cannot confirm this. TheaterMax, you seem to be the most knowledgeable about this phone, so perhaps you could comment on this when you have an opportunity.

Also, there's a post on this thread that says the phone doesn't have a vibrate feature???? That can't be true.

If anyone would like , I am letting one of my 970's go..

Why didn't verizon put vibrate on this phone....I'm just curious. please reply if you know.

too bad there is no vibrate. I use vibrate a lot, but thats life and i dont always have to use it 😁

Everyone keeps saying that they are buying this phone at BestBuy, yet I have not seen any pictures of a retail boxed phone or any pictures taken with the phone.
So if someone bought the phone at BestBuy, can you take some pics with the phone?

If it is out like half of everyone so call said. Then i want harcore positive proof..

I got it at my store in bestbuy suburbs of chicago... No one else really does but I do... I like to special order things, haha... I got all the good high end phones, haha... It's a sweet phone... I dont know about reception and all, but I know that the camera it's really good, doesn't look like a 2 mp, my sanyo 5600 seems better to me, the zooming on the 970 is really cool cause it's not choppy when it goes in, but when it goes in it gets really blurry, so there is no real point of the 2x optical zoom... So yeah... any other questions, maybe I will be able to answer them...

I bought 2 tonight for my friend and I..

I just activated it and so far it's decent..

I am a big samsung fan, so I am going to really put it through it's paces tonight.

Speaker is decent so far. Seems not to be full duplex but the other party thinks your on a land line which is a good thing.

The Menu system is aweful.. It's the LG Operating System.. Whats up with this ?? Samsung must have sold out to LG or maybe they both buy their OS from the same company.

Camera out the side is a bit strange..Not sure it's worth the size for the 2Mp..

Can't wait to get a transflash and try the MPS player out..

Voice Quality is superb on the earpiece as I would expect from Samsung. My 670...

We are desperate for a Leather Case for this thing - The problem is going to be be it has no antenna so there is no place to loop the strap around ?

Also, They changed the cord - The A670 cord does not work - Unreal - It's the same size but they modified the opening.. Yikes - New cords and house chargers 🙂

For the lucky few that have the phone, Samsung has a USB driver on their website. Probably have to find a cable that is compatible with the A970 and try either QPST or Bitpim to customize the phone.

so just thought i would let you guys know that the release date has been moved to oct 18th. not sure for what reason and the 2 yr price will be 349.99. im not sure but i think it was listed at 399.99 for the 2 yr at first

The camera is cool. Most phones don't got 2megapixles and some digital cameras have 2megapixles. I think it's cool that it has 2mp.

This afternoon I was in a Best Buy in Nashua NH and they had the a970 on sale. There was a little price tag thing saying pricing was good till 8/28. Retail price was $499. No lie.
Then you could get the good deal if you were a new customer and a 2 year commitment $349.

I asked the sales person if this was a preview or if they really had them in stock. I was told it was they were in stock. I didn't buy it because i'm lookin at the full price.

Under "MP3" it shows how you transfer mp3 files from your PC to the Transflash card. Then put the card in the phone and use the front buttons under the external screen to play them.

Does anyone know if you can view text messages with the flip closed on this phone??? I can do it on my LG 8000 and it is an awesome feature. Hopefully you will be able to do it on this phone...if anyone has any info, please let me know

Does anyone have know of the actual release date or time frame from now when this phone will be released? Also does anyone know if this phone will have the ability to create you're own ring tones?

I wonder if anyone knows if pictures and/or video can be taken with the phone closed?

Also, can anyone with an SCH-a890 comment on picture quality compared to phones like the LG vx8000/8100? I was always under the impression that Samsung's phone cameras weren't as good.
