Samsung SCH-A970

VZW is activating these phones before they are even on the shelves in the stores? I didnt know they did that.

Had it for about 3 hours today before I returned it. The screen is small. The build is just ok. The Verizon UI sucks. There is no holstering option right now, which was the deal breaker for me. Not to mention Verizon tried to charge me $15 to turn my old phone back on. That's their new thing now to take more of our money. I told them it wouldn't let me do it online so they waived it. My V710 wasn't so bad after all...

IF you have seen this phone could you please post exactly how much it costs. If you do, thank you very much. 🙂

When the release date again? is it October 10? or some other date?

ok so i went to Best Buy Paramus, and gave this puppy a test drive.. i drove 45 minutes out of my way to do this, and was fully intending to buy the phone despite the 350 dollar price tag...but alas,, i held back. The phone has alot to offer,, true 2 megapixel, really great cam and video...i was very impressed..but what bothered me, was the swivel. its kinda bothersome. feels a little awkward.. but really what stopped me buying it, is the earpiece volume.. it just doesnt get crisp and loud enough for me.. im spoiled by the lg7000...i really value a loud sounding phone..whether its in the car, or wherever, volume is good.. try comparing the two..thats why i returned my lg8100.. just too low..so Anyway i held off on the phone, and am still in ...

I saw and touched the A970 today at about 12 noon at the BestBuy store in Westbury, NY.

I did not see it in operation... the sales rep. said the AC adapter wasn't available and the battery had run down.

He said they have 2 in stock, and the price is $350 (not sure about rebates).

Anyway, I'm a little leery about the swivel screen... it seemed a little wobbly.

The quality of the phone itself looked and felt OK, but NOT as good as the 8100. The 8100 felt SOLID in comparison!!

When the Verizon stores have the 970, I may give it a try before I actually get the 8100.

Then I'll make my final decision on this whole issue!!

Ahhh. I remember about a month ago I was looking forward to having my new phone by now.

Something tells me the October Release Date isn't going to happen either.

The real issue with people posting that they have any particular phone ahead of schedule is that a whole bunch of folks will bum rush their Verizon stores or best buy or whatever saying "Where is it? i read ONLINE that they have it out now." I work in the business and these people are a nuisance to all of us. They make a bad name for the forums and such. The thing is just because YOU might be able to get the phone doesnt mean its released, so not everyone can get it. And therin lies the issue.

I work for VZW in a Circuit City in Florida and as of yesterday, the 970 is no longer on InfoManager. I was wondering if anyone had heard if the launch date of Sept 2 had been moved back.

To anyone that actually thinks people have these phones, stop being retarded. Obviously if someone had the phone, they would post a picture from it right off the bat, to prove everyone wrong. Or better yet, someone would just take a picture of the phone at Best Buy. It would take all but 1 minute to take a picture and post in on here or HowardForums. The losers lying about buying the phone obviously don't have a life. lol Not that I'm much better starting this thread.
