Samsung SCH-A990

I hate that verizons phone are not as good as their network. It's annoying that the similar phones on different carriers can be such different quality. I was hyped about this phone until I went to the store and had it in my hand. It seems cheap, Sprint always seems to have the best phones but not the best deals. damn these phone companies.

Does these codes work in the SAmsung SCH-a970 too?

I have a 700w and overall its fine, I dont have internet because the price is outrageous. So, I'm not even attempting to use it's potential. The only thing I like is that texting is easy on this bad boy.

I want to upgrade next month and I am looking hard at this phone.

Although, I see that the new Treo 680's will begin coming out on some networks and maybe Verizon by mid 2007. Shoot, talk me into or out of this phone if you want.

This one's a deal breaker for me if it can't do it... My LG VX8000 can, but it's definitely time for a new phone. Thoughts?

Everyone here in Manhattan has that Razor phone, but I've yet to see *anyone* else with the a990.

I'm just curious if anyone on this board has noticed a990's in other areas(?)

What the version of the bluetooth software this phone is currently using?

Where did you A990 owners get your USB cable from? Do the ones on ebay work? I was planning on using Windows Media Player 10 to sync music files.

I'm not a huge "phone person", I typically get about 1 phone a year and primarily use it only for making calls, sending texts, music, and pictures.

I recently got the Chocolate and have been mildly happy with it but I was just curious as to how people felt the Samsung SCH A990 compared to it. My return window is closing fast so I have to decide if I am going to keep the Chocolate or return it and pick up the Samsung.

I have to say the prospect of a 3.2 megapixel camera is sexy. How is the interface? I have to tell you, this chocolate's navagation system is getting on my friggin nerves.

My last phone was a motorola v710 that I was pretty happy with sans the missing Bluetooth features, I mean.

Does this phone have a camera side key. If so,
can you put camera mode on the outside screen like the 950.

I'm considering making the switch from cingular to verizon. This is the only phone that really catches my eye in terms of features. Verizon does not mention many of the features stated in the phonescoop specifications including the business card reader, voice regonition, and speech-to-text dictation. Can any A990 owners tell me for a fact if verizon's version of this phone does indeed include these features?

I have the vx8100 and I think the stereospeakers sound excellent and loud. How are the speakers on this phone compared to the other top of the line verizon phones?

on my 9800 it has the optional setting under tools and voice command where you can set the phone to say the name of the person calling or texting and then ring. i cant find a setting for that on the 990 does anyone know if there is one?

which one is better. Im confused since both of the phones have kind of the same features.
I know that the SCH-a970 has a software upgrade available. Can someone tell me which one is better using the new software upgrade on the 970. I like both of them very much but whic one should i get. Can someone tell me if they have a970 with software upgrade how muck memory is used ans left on the phone.
Also will the 990 getting a software upgrade?

Does anyone know if the voice dialing software is the same as the a950, which is 3rd party software? Tried the a930, e815 and had major problems - including sending everything to text. They both use the same.

I'm looking for a leather case/pouch thats fits my SCH-a990. I can't find it! I want one that you fit into the phone and has a belt clip. PlEASE let me know a place to find one!

Any thoughts on the possibility of a price drop?
Even with the CMOS (not CCD as some said)3.2 megapixle camera, the price seems crazy considering that the PDA phones cost less. I was waiting for a price drop but now wonder if it's a waste, since the a990 is more a specialty phone, not for the masses just technogeeks.

I spoke to a Verizon rep who told me sales of the a990 were not anywhere near the Chocolate. That makes sense, it does cost twice as much and is not advertised as far as I can tell.

Also Samsung has two more CMOS sensors for phones now. A 5 megapixel and a 7 megapixel. Won't these be coming out soon?

On my Nokia 6256 I could so Im just wonderin if I could on this..I only had this phone a week..Its great..I can hear people great. People can hear me good so far..I got a couple complaints but not every phone can be perfect..They told me its MUCH BETTER THAN last week (when I had the NOKIA)But yah..Im still figuring some stuff out...Some things I dont like but the way its set up but thats cuz i have had Nokia's 4 the past 3 years so ill get use 2 the menu eventually...lol..

I would like to know if the a990 can do unique ringtones for contacts text messages. I know it does it for calls. I ask because my LG 8000 lets me add ringtones to contcts for both text and calls and they are different fields so they can be any tune I want. The a970 I bought a while back and took back did not have unique, individual text ringtones. Thanks, oneerc

Does this phone support themes?

When I goto "My Sounds" and select "Options" I can set a sound to ringtone, alert tone or Contact ID. What the heck does contact ID do? I assigned a sound to some of my contacts but what does that do?
