Some updates with the merger.

Just wanted to let everyone know that day 1 will be about September 1st. Also, wanted to say that the gateway will be out in about 6-9 months.

Dual phones for iden (push to talk) and cdma (voice) to come into the marketplace in about a year to a year and a half.

In addition, you would want to pay attention in the September time frame because there will be a huge marketing campaign.

I will continue to update you all so stay tuned and if you guys have any questions please ask.

Roaming question

I have a question, this seems like the place to come 😁 What is the plan, or does it exist, no matter where I am, it will not roam. Right now, some places say DIGITAL ROAM, and I get charged if I use it. Does anyone know first hand how this works. I assume when it reads ANALOG ROAM, its a charge. Any help would be great 🙂

Any Help...

Right now I work in an authorized dealer for sprint, nextel, verizon, t-mobile, and cingular. I want to know if any one has any pointers for getting a job in a sprint retail store? I've put in my application but because it's done online I have no way of knowing how far along into the process my app has gone. Also is there anything that I can put on the app or my resume that will help me stand out?
Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

New Logo On Phonescoop

I know the actual logo for Sprint will implement yellow into it. However, the logo on here is plain black and white. Personally it's unappealing and just plain dull. I'm going to hate having to look at that everytime I come into the carrier forums.

any1 think roll-over is better than Fair&Flex? read this...

i have a simple mathematical exercise that i beleive will definitively prove that Fair&Flex is a better value than rollover:

let's say person A has cingy...450 minutes/mt for $39/mt

person B has sprint...300 minutes/mt for $30/mt

person A and person B both use 400 minutes/mt for the first six months on their plan, then, during the seventh month, *they have a death in the family* or *they go on vacation*, and they each use like 1250 minutes

month 1 - 400 minutes used
person A rolls 50 minutes over, pays $39
person B gets billed $5 for 100 extra minutes, pays $35

-----
total paid so far
A = $39
B = $35
-----

month 2 - 400 minutes used
A rolls-over another 50, has 100 saved, pays $39
B repeats month 1, pays $35

----...

Third Party Employee Plan

I worked for CCity when they still were offering Sprint (Summer 2003) and I got their employee plan at that time ($15 for 1500 total minutes and nationwide long distance). I also added PCS-to-PCS for $5, so I pay about $25 a month, and have been since that summer. I own the Sanyo 8100 and it's still going strong with the original battery. And now comes my question; should I still have this plan? I quit CCity long ago, and haven't mentioned this dilemma to Sprint yet in fear of losing my awesome deal. In the near future, I'd like to get a new phone and to do so, I'll have to get ahold of Sprint to change the service to the new phone, and I'm worried they'll notice my price plan, and make me upgrade.
Does this sound reasonable? Has anyone el...

Tower integration, new Sprint coverage

With the closing of the merger coming very soon, one would wonder how prepared Sprint is to integrate Sprint and Nextel's towers. In my area, where Nextel has many more towers than Sprint at this time, there has been many additional antennas added to Nextel towers during the spring and early summer months this year.

That may very well be Sprint adding their service to Nextel towers. Any news that this might be true? It sure would be great news.

Hopefully we hear an announcement on Sprint's updated coverage map on Friday, Aug. 12th, the anticipated close date for the merger. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/2 0050809/ap_on_bi_ge/sprint_nextel_2

Looking for an alternative to Customer Service...

I have been traveling for a month and knew I was going to go over my minutes...

But because I knew about the $5.00 for every 100 minutes, I wasn't really worried too much...

But I just got my bill today and it's almost $300.00....

about 210.00 more than usual..

After talking with a CSV rep, I found out my plan is old and the 100 minutes for $5 is not covered under my plan....

I have had sprint for about 6 years now..
Not particularly happy with the service....

Asked the rep if their was someone else I could talk too.. And he basically said in a nut shell I was SOL.....

Any other numbers to call..

Thanks

Sprint has not kept up!

Why does it seem that sprint has not kept up withother carriers. It seems to me that other carriers offer better phones with more bells and whistles at a lower price. Sprint offers only two phone with bluetooth, one is the lg-325 that is a piece of junk and the other is the treo 650 theat costs $600. I have contacted sprint and they tell me that they do not have another option until at least till next year. Sprint also only offers one phone that can be used globally. It looks like I am going to switch to cingular, any thoughts on sprint vs. cingular would be appreciated.
