Ok I wanna get this phone but don't want to change to Cingular. Is this phone available for AT&T that can be covered by Lockline Insurance?

Hello, I just bought myself a new Motorola V551 on Saturday thru Cingular. I am loving thus far, however there are a couple of things I need help with. First off, is it just me, or is this manual really not that much help?? I have read it over and over and it STILL doesn't explain a lot of features on my phone.

For example, can anyone tell me how I can group various numbers under ONE NAME?? It seems that this phone has this capability, but I've tried and tried and can't seem to get it to work. For example, say I have the name David. David has two numbers, a mobile number and a home number. Is there a way I can group these two numbers under his name? Well, actually, I did a search and found a thread from January...

Apparently you can just assign a 1 digit "speed dial" number, and it acts like a 1-touch number. So, if you assign someone a 2 for their speed dial number, you only have to hold down the 2 for them! Cool.

Design wise, I am not very keen on the original Cingular V551 faceplate and am considering replacement.

According to Motorola information, the faceplates are not removable. However, there seem to be many third party suppliers that sell V400/V500 faceplates which supposedly fit the V551. Conversely, a mall kiosk said that the camera holes are slighly different for the V551 and therefore the fit is not perfect.

Does anyone have further information and/or a definitive answer?

i guess it really isnt a problem but a nuisance. when i am trying to capture videos everything works fine but most video clips only last 5 seconds! i know i can change the resolution to low but then it looks like crap. i guess i just want to voice my dissatisfaction about this. oh well!

On the back on my motorola v551's box, theres a advertizement for this "foto fun pack" and i have looked into my phone many times and cannot find this foto fun which i guess is just like clip art. do you have to download it or what??

Switching from TDMA to GSM and in the market for a new phone, and v551 looks like a good choice EXCEPT -- this phone apparently does not really have an "address book" per se (i.e., names and addresses), only a phone number listing.

Can someone confirm or comment on this?

I have the V551 and found an issue with Bluetooth use (actually Handsfree link use) with my car.

The Bluetooth works fine while the phone is operating on battery, but if I connect it to a power source, the Bluetooth fails.

My local Cingular shop and I tried this on my old V551, the replacement phone sent to address this problem and a brand new V551 from the store, all failed the same way. The Razr worked fine.

Of course Cingular simply want me to but a new phone and are claiming that it's not their problem...it's Motorola's. I have contacted both Cingular and Motorola to try to get some resolution on this.

Anyone else got a Handfree link they can try this with?

Has anyone else been having problems with the keypad lights shutting off while you are navigating menus, sending messages, etc? It hasn't been a problem yet, but I'm sure there will be a day that I'll need them.

Yesterday I bought an unlocked Motorola V330, which was made for use with T-Mobile. I'm a Cingular customer.

While I am able to make and receive calls and text messages just fine, I would really like to flash the phone with Cingular software so I can access Cingular's data network. Essentially, I want to make my V330 into a V551.

I have a USB cable, and I've read up on the basics of flexing and flashing phones, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some general advice before I flash the phone with a monsterpack I found on www.motomodders.net

What precautions should I take? How do I know I'm using the correct software (i.e. Software that will let me access Cingular's North America "MEdia Net" data network?

How many pictures and videos can you store on this phone?

Contracts up and its time to choose a new phone. The v551 caught my eye at the store and I decided to look further into it. Looking through all these forum topics I just have a few questions to clear up.

Basically I'm all about convenience, but I hear this phonebook has one of the most confusing flaws or something. Something about 1 number per name or not being able to put the Names list in alphabetical order. Can someone clarify for me exactly what the problem(s) is/are?

Battery life seems to be some big issue, but it always deals with using Bluetooth and keeping it on. I'm a simple kind of guy and could give a crap less about using Bluetooth...so my battery life is good right?
