xv6700 and mediascouter

50 percent of my book business deals with non- ISBN books. Can i marry the media scouter concept with a cell phone with data access. My plan is to use the xv6700 with its SD slot for the mediascouter upload. Use the blutooth capability of the xv to handle the Flic Scanner. For the non-ISBN stuff i would use the cellphone data access to search the internet for the details. Is this doable? Would you be able to help me find out if the scanner works with the xv? I've heard that some companies cripple their bluetooth functions to only work with headsets; is this true?

I know that xv runs Windows Mobile, so this should do well.

Also, will the MediaScouter fit in the resolution of the screen on the xv?

FYI: Verizon/UTStar and repairs

This is about repairing a XV6700, and although I personally feel Verizon and UTStar’s SERVICE both suck and I hate them, their products are worth owning. And please no offense to employees and representatives of the two intended.

So Verizon sells me a XV6700 $400 phone and doesn't bother to mention I didn't currently have insurance on my plan. Needless to say one month later I have a careless accident and the display cracks.

I called Verizon and argued about insurance for days. They tried to add phone insurance and back date it to be nice. The insurance company laughed at me when I tried to make the claim and stated the people at Verizon know we’ll see it’s backdated and they were just trying to get rid of you.

Since I invested ...

XV6700 Firmware Update

It looks like UTStarcom released the update today as they now have links to download both the update file and the associated instructions.

-----------

http://www.utstar.com/pcd/downloads/APAC_VZW_20720_2 ... »

http://www.utstar.com/pcd/downloads/XV6700%20Upgrade ... »

-----------

I tried it today but wasn't able to get very far. Got an error message when attempting to run the update file stating that it was corrupt. I opened a support ticket with UTStarcom but have not heard back from them yet.

I looked on Verizon's website but I couldn't find the download listed out there anywhere.

Has anyone gotten it to work? Did you find the download somewhere else?

Firmware Update for PPC6700

😁

This may be old news, but thank goodness for the firmware update for my Alltel PPC6700. It is located at the UT Starcomm website, http://www.utstar.com/pcd/Downloads.aspx

It has a real screen lock so I do not call people accidentally, eliminates the flight mode activation and adds voice dialing upgrades even though I already use the MS product.

You may have to select PPC6700 from the drop list on the left, but the screen lock works awesome, NO key activation unless YOU want it!!

Honest Opinion

I am with Sprint right now and I have a Samsung A940 and I have full intentions on keeping it but as of right now I average about 800 text messages per month and I was going to add this phone to my line, because it is more professional and has a qwerty keyboard. Seeing sprint doesn't a version of the Side Kick this is kinda my option....What do you guys think of this PDA?

Not Push-ing (please help)

My phone hasn't gotten any messages pushed to it in a couple of days and I can't figure out what the deal is. I set up my Verizon Wireless Sync account and have gotten messages pushed to it b/f, but nothing now.

Any advice on what could have gone wrong and what I can do about it?

Thanks

I'm wondering if anyone can give all the directions needed to put a DVD on my PPC. I mean, EVERYTHING I need. As in:

1.) What programs I'll Need
2.) How to copy it to my PC

WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 10

Okay, so I've been using my friend's computer to convert and copy audio/video files to my PPC. To do this I've been using Windows Media PLayer 10... Today, I got my new computer and downloaded Active Sync 4.1. It works perfectly. Then, I downloaded WMP10, and it works as well... However, the ONE thing it cannot do is find my 'Mobile Device'. Has anyone else had this problem? Are there any other programs I can use?

wi fi

I've attempted to use wi fi on several occasions and I connect but I'm still not able to access internet or receive email. is there some type of configuring that needs to be done in advance? do I need to set up wi fi on my phone then use it? I've heard others using it but for whatever reason I still cannot connect in bad areas.

Main Memory

For Storage it says I have 43.50MB, but only 10.76MB is free. What can I do to free up more memory? I have already deleted the history from my IE.

skins for 6700?

I like the 6700 and cannot decide between that and the 700W. I use the phone on the road alot and the ability to use with one hand is a help for the 700W but could be a problem for the 6700. One of my main concerns was the touchscreen dialing, the buttons seemed kind of small and tough to press correctly when trying to dial. Does anyone know if you can change the screen to make the buttons larger or if there are different skins for the telephone apps on the 6700?

Thanks

Problems downloading applications PLEASE HELP

I have owned a PPC-6700 by Sprint for about a month now. I'm still learning a lot about it but it seems like a very nice device, however, every application that I try to download from the internet (except from the Handango website) doesn't work. The error message is always the same: "This is not a valid pocket PC application".

What can I do about it?
Where can I download applications that will work with the PPC-6700 for free?

Thank you very much in advance

XV 6700 and BMW 550 compatibility:

Does anyone here have information about the compatibility with the BMW 550. I am able to pair up the phone and make and receive the calls but my phone book is not working. Is this a phone issue or BWM issue. Before than I had E 815 and it was working fine.

Thanks in advance!!

Vs. MDA

Which is better? This PDA or the MDA?? The only difference I see is that the monthly plans might be cheaper since you can get the Vision plan for unlimited internet as opposed to the tmobile internet plan of $29.99. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
